EU
Commission continues to examine the offer system for option tickets for
the soccer World Championship (www.sozialisten.de)
The
European deputy André Brie welcomes the compromise by the German Soccer
Association in the question of the option tickets for the soccer world
championship:
“Quite
apparently, the public pressure, including also the commitment by
consumer advocates and deputies, has led to a rethinking by the
responsible officials in the German Soccer Union”, Brie declared on
Wednesday in
Schwerin
. On Tuesday evening, soccer’s association and consumer central
federal association had agreed that fans who had bought such option
tickets would be allowed to recall their contracts until April 15.
However, the DFB pointed to the fact that the programme as such was not
up for discussions. In the case of the option tickets, the customer must
enter into pre-payment without even knowing whether he or she will get
into the stadium later.
Brie
also explained that the European Union continued to examine the offer
system for the option tickets. The Left Party politician had asked the
Commission in the beginning of November to re-examine the extremely
questionable sales practices. In her letter of reply of Tuesday,
competition commissar Neelie Kroes declared that the world soccer
association FIFA and the DFB had been asked for additional information.
It was expected in the next couple of days.
